The complacent Maximillian Dreyfuss, head of a recently formed online university, was pleased, amongst other things, with the name “‘P.U.N.C.H.’” – an acronym for ‘”Posting University Network Courses Here’” – thought up by Letty from the Religious Studies Department, with whom he'd been enjoying a brief affair at that time. “Punch” also refers to the alcohol served in the occasional P.U.N.C.H. parties on campus, as well as the emotional and sometimes physical blows Maximillian delivers to those around him. All was going well in the P.U.N.C.H. empire, with increasing numbers of online classes and eager students each semester, but then events take a surprising plunge and no virtual stone is left unturned in this insightful and humorous send-up of academic life on the web.

These days humor is everywhere we don't expect to see it. In all honesty I can't recall the last time I read a novel that made me smile or laugh out loud. Thankfully Tisha Bender has rectified the situation with her latest novel, P.U.N.C.H. So if our American political landscape has you down in the dumps, or if you are finding that winter is dragging along too slowly, I recommend a little dose of Dr. Bender's very clever cure-all.Product details

PUNCH edition by Tisha Bender Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Maximillian Dreffus, head of the online teaching courses at a university that might remind you of your own, is a border line personality preying on women and toxic to his male employees. Online teaching is in its infancy in the middle to late 1990s and is proving to be an intimate teaching space. Some professors are making it succeed in spite of Maximillian's personality flaws. Some interesting tidbits about early technical and ethical questions brought up with online teaching. This novel exposes the brave new world of reaching a very large base of students without ever having to meet them. If you like academic satires this just might be the book for you!
Interesting story which I enjoyed.
A great beach read. Filled with insights on the perils of online teaching by a writer who does it.
This is a very entertaining and well-written tale of academia with a twist. I look forward to many more from this author!
Wonderful book! Arrived quickly and in perfect condition.
The person who recommended this book to me led me to expect sharp academic satire. That, I did not find.
